Zidovance 2.5gm Injection

Zidovance 2.5gm Injection is a combination antibiotic injection used to treat serious bacterial infections. It contains Ceftazidime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, and Avibactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Together, they are effective against resistant bacteria that cause severe infections in the lungs (such as pneumonia), abdomen, and urinary tract. This medicine is administered in hospitals under the supervision of a healthcare professional. It is typically reserved for infections that do not respond adequately to standard antibiotics.

Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you have allergies to cephalosporins, penicillins, or other antibiotics. Patients with kidney problems or a history of seizures should exercise caution, as dose adjustments may be necessary. Diarrhoea is a known side effect; if it becomes severe or bloody, notify your doctor immediately.

Ceftazidime works by blocking the bacteria’s ability to build its protective cell wall, causing the bacteria to die. Avibactam supports this action by stopping certain enzymes (beta-lactamases) that could otherwise destroy the antibiotic. This powerful duo makes the medicine highly effective against resistant bacteria.

Like all medicines, this injection can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
