Product Introduction
Ziluta 150mg tablet contains the active ingredient Nilutamide. It is an antineoplastic drug belonging to the class of non-steroidal anti-androgens. It is indicated for the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer, a condition in which cancer has spread beyond the prostate gland to other parts of the body. This typically occurs when cancer cells disseminate from the prostate gland via the bloodstream or lymphatic system to distant organs, including the bones, lungs, liver, or brain.
This drug is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment due to the risk of liver damage. The tablet is not recommended for individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to Nilutamide or any of its components. Interstitial pneumonitis is a serious adverse effect that has been reported with this medication.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, decreased appetite, breast tenderness or enlargement, and visual changes. Vision problems may occur in some patients taking this drug. If you have pre-existing eye conditions or are taking other medications that may affect vision, discuss this with your doctor before commencing treatment. Your doctor may recommend periodic eye examinations to monitor for any changes in vision while taking this medication.
Alcohol consumption should be avoided entirely while taking this tablet. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience facial flushing, malaise, or hypotension. Women of childbearing potential should avoid pregnancy while taking this medication as it may cause birth defects. If you are a man taking this medicine and your partner becomes pregnant, contact your healthcare provider immediately. Effective contraception is recommended during treatment with this medicine to prevent unintended pregnancy.
This medicine interacts with other medications, including blood thinners and certain antibiotics. It should not be used concurrently with these drugs unless specifically directed by a healthcare provider.
