Product Introduction
Zolasta Injection 4mg contains the active ingredient Zoledronic Acid, which belongs to the class of medicines known as bisphosphonates. It is used to lower high calcium levels in the blood (hypercalcaemia) caused by certain types of tumours in adults. Some tumours increase the breakdown of bone tissue, leading to excessive calcium release into the bloodstream, a condition known as tumour-induced hypercalcaemia (TIH). Zolasta Injection 4mg is also prescribed to help prevent bone-related complications in adults with multiple myeloma and bone metastases from solid tumours when used alongside standard cancer treatment.
In addition, Zolasta Injection 4mg is indicated for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and in men at risk of bone loss. It is also used to manage Paget's disease of bone, a condition in which bones become weak, enlarged, painful, or more likely to fracture. This medicine may also be prescribed to prevent or treat glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis in men and women receiving long-term corticosteroid therapy, which can weaken the bones over time.
Do not use Zolasta Injection 4mg if you are allergic to Zoledronic Acid, any other bisphosphonate, or any of the ingredients in this medicine. It should also be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, existing bone disorders, or symptoms such as jaw pain, swelling, or numbness, as these may require additional monitoring. This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents below 18 years of age.
It is important to note that Zolasta Injection 4mg is not a chemotherapy medicine and does not stop or slow the progression of cancer. Instead, it helps manage bone-related complications associated with cancer and other bone disorders.
