Product Introduction
Zoledac 4mg contains zoledronic acid, a bisphosphonate. It is used to reduce elevated blood calcium levels in adult patients with tumour-induced hypercalcaemia (TIH), a condition where tumours accelerate bone breakdown and increase calcium release into the bloodstream.
Zoledac 4mg is also indicated to prevent bone complications in adult patients with multiple myeloma and bone metastases from solid tumours (cancer spread from the primary site to bone), as an addition to standard cancer therapy. It is used to prevent or treat osteoporosis (a condition characterised by thin, weak bones that fracture easily) in postmenopausal women and in men. Zoledac 4mg is also indicated for treating Paget's disease of bone, a condition in which bones become soft, weak, deformed, painful, or prone to fracture. It is used to treat or prevent osteoporosis in men and women receiving glucocorticoid therapy (a corticosteroid medication that may cause osteoporosis).
Do not take Zoledac 4mg if you are allergic to zoledronic acid, other bisphosphonates, or any ingredients in this medicine, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, bone diseases, pain, swelling, or jaw numbness. This medicine is not recommended for adolescents and children below 18 years of age.
Zoledac 4mg is not a cancer chemotherapy agent and will not slow or stop cancer spread. However, it can be used to treat bone diseases in patients with cancer.
