Product Introduction
Zolistra 4mg contains the active ingredient Zoledronic Acid, which belongs to the class of medicines known as bisphosphonates. It is used to lower high blood calcium levels (hypercalcaemia) in adults when caused by certain tumours. Some cancers accelerate the normal breakdown of bone tissue, leading to excessive calcium being released into the bloodstream. This condition is called tumour-induced hypercalcaemia (TIH). Zolistra 4mg is also prescribed to prevent bone-related complications in adults with multiple myeloma and bone metastases from solid tumours when used in combination with standard cancer therapy.
In addition, Zolistra 4mg is indicated for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and in men with decreased bone density. It is also used to treat Paget's disease of bone, a condition in which the bones become enlarged, weak, painful, or more susceptible to fractures. This medicine may also be prescribed to prevent or manage glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis in men and women receiving long-term corticosteroid therapy, which can weaken bones and increase the risk of fractures.
Do not use Zolistra 4mg if you are allergic to Zoledronic Acid, any other bisphosphonate, or any of the ingredients in this medicine. It should also be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, bone disorders, or symptoms such as jaw pain, swelling, or numbness, as these conditions may require careful monitoring throughout therapy. This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age.
It is important to note that Zolistra 4mg is not a chemotherapy medicine and does not stop or slow the spread of cancer. Instead, it is used to manage bone diseases and skeletal complications in patients with cancer, helping to maintain bone strength and reduce the risk of fractures and other bone-related complications.
