Product Introduction

The Zotide Pen Device is a reusable injection pen developed by Cipla Ltd. designed to deliver teriparatide, a synthetic parathyroid hormone (PTH) analogue, for treatment of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is characterised by decreased bone mineral density, elevating fracture risk. The device enables subcutaneous injection of teriparatide to stimulate bone formation and increase bone mass. The Zotide Pen Device contains no medication; it requires Zotide cartridges (containing teriparatide) and Zotide Pen Needles for use. Patients should consult their doctor before commencing therapy to confirm appropriate administration technique and review any contraindications or potential adverse effects.

Uses

The Zotide Pen Device is used to administer teriparatide for the treatment of: Osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk for fractures. Primary or hypogonadal osteoporosis in men at high risk for fractures. Glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis in men and women at high risk for fractures.

How it works

Teriparatide, administered using the Zotide Pen Device, mimics the activity of the natural parathyroid hormone in the body. It stimulates the activity of osteoblasts, the cells responsible for bone formation. This leads to increased bone mineral density and strength, reducing the risk of fractures associated with osteoporosis. Regular administration as prescribed can help in the effective management of osteoporosis.

How to Use

To use the Zotide Pen Device: Wash your hands thoroughly. Attach a new needle to the pen. Insert the Zotide cartridge containing teriparatide into the pen. Set the prescribed dose as directed by your healthcare provider. Clean the injection site (thigh or abdomen) with an alcohol swab. Inject the medication subcutaneously as instructed. Remove and dispose of the needle safely after each use. Always follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider or the device manual for proper usage.

Side Effects

Common Side Effects: Injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling) Nausea Leg cramps Dizziness Serious Side Effects: Hypercalcemia (elevated calcium levels) Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling) Osteosarcoma (a rare type of bone cancer) If you experience any severe side effects, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider immediately.
